Estimate material costs, plan delivery logistics, and optimize construction budgeting with our comprehensive rebar calculation tool
Note: This calculator estimates rebar weight based on standard steel density (490 lbs/ft³ or 7850 kg/m³). Weights are approximate and may vary slightly by manufacturer. Grade affects yield strength but not weight.
Our free Rebar Weight Calculator helps contractors, engineers, and construction professionals accurately calculate steel reinforcement weight and requirements for concrete projects. Whether you're planning concrete structures, estimating material costs, ordering reinforcement steel, or managing construction projects, this tool provides precise weight calculations for rebar of all sizes.
Calculate rebar weight by diameter, determine total project requirements, estimate material costs, plan delivery logistics, and optimize construction budgeting with our comprehensive rebar calculation tool designed for construction industry professionals.
Supports all standard rebar sizes from #3 to #18 (US) and 10mm to 57mm (metric) with accurate weight calculations based on ASTM A615 standards.
Calculate in both imperial (pounds, feet) and metric (kilograms, meters) units with automatic conversions for international project compatibility.
Calculate multiple rebar sizes and lengths simultaneously, with automatic summation of total weight and cost for complex reinforcement projects.
Estimate delivery requirements, truckload capacities, and handling equipment needs based on total rebar weight and bundle sizes.
Used by structural engineers, contractors, concrete specialists, and construction managers worldwide. No registration required - calculate rebar weight instantly!
The standard formula for rebar weight is: Weight = (D²/162) × Length for metric (kg/m) or Weight = (D²/2.67) × Length for imperial (lb/ft), where D is the diameter in mm or inches respectively.
Rebar size numbers indicate the bar diameter in eighths of an inch. #3 rebar = 3/8" diameter, #4 = 1/2" diameter, #5 = 5/8" diameter, and so on up to #18 (2-1/4" diameter).
A 20-foot length of #4 rebar weighs approximately 13.32 pounds (0.668 lbs/ft × 20 ft). #4 rebar has a unit weight of 0.668 pounds per foot according to ASTM standards.
Yes, our calculator includes adjustment factors for coated rebar. Epoxy-coated rebar adds approximately 2-5% to the weight, while galvanized rebar adds about 3-7% depending on coating thickness.
